Sewer Cleaning and CCTV Inspection Program
Overview
Tamworth Regional Council is undertaking essential sewer cleaning and investigation works across the region as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, reliable sewer network for our community.
Our sewer system services more than 70,000 residents and businesses and requires regular inspection and cleaning to prevent blockages, reduce the risk of overflows and ensure long-term performance.
Project overview
Tamworth Regional Council is investing $492,420.00 GST exclusive in sewer network cleaning and investigation works as part of the Annual Renewal Program.
As part of this program, Council will inspect approximately 68 kilometres of sewer pipe throughout Tamworth. These inspections help identify blockages, damage and wear so issues can be addressed before they become major problems.
When will the works take place?
Works will be carried out over a 4–5 month period from mid-April to August-September 2026
Activities will occur progressively across different locations within the region.
What will residents notice?
The works are expected to cause minimal disruption to residents and businesses.
Crews may need access to sewer pipes surrounding properties, and temporary traffic or pedestrian controls may be in place in some locations.
Affected residents will be contacted at least three (3) working days before works begin.
Where access is required, the contractor will coordinate directly with property owners and provide alternative access arrangements if needed. A customer relations team will be available to respond to enquiries.
All works will be managed under an approved Traffic Management Plan, in line with Transport for NSW requirements, to ensure the safety of residents, pedestrians and road users.
Why this work is important
Regular sewer maintenance helps to:
- Prevent blockages and overflows
- Reduce odours and environmental impacts
- Extend the life of sewer pipes
- Maintain reliable services for our growing region
This proactive approach ensures Tamworth’s sewer network continues to operate safely and efficiently for the whole community.
