Request to Speak at a Community Strategic Session

Anyone who would like to address the Councillors on matters of a strategic nature or as part of Council’s advocacy role that are not currently addressed by Council may do so at a Community Strategic Sessions. Community Strategic Sessions are not public meetings, but an opportunity for members of the public, businesses and community groups to address the Councillors.

Note: To address a Council Meeting on matter that is included in the Business Paper for a Council Meeting may do so at a Public Forum (previously referred to as 'Community Consultation').

Register online (via the form below) by 5.00pm the week prior to when the Community Strategic Sessions will be held (eg second Wednesday of the month).

Persons not registered to speak will not be able to address Councillors.

If you have any documentation to support your presentation, please provide two copies prior to the meeting.
Audio Visual presentations must be received by 4.30pm the day prior to the meeting.
Each speaker will be allowed three minutes to address the Councillors, an extension of time may be granted if deemed necessary by the Mayor

Members of the public will be permitted a maximum of three (3) minutes to address the Councillors. An extension of time may be granted if deemed necessary by the Mayor.
Councillors may ask questions of the speaker.
The speaker will not be able to ask questions of Councillors or Council staff in relation to the matter.
Council senior staff may not be in attendance.
Members of the public seeking to represent or speak on behalf of a third party must satisfy Council that he or she has the authority to represent or speak on behalf of the third party
Council will only permit six speakers to be heard in Community Strategic Sessions.
The same issue will only be permitted to be addressed in Community Strategic Sessions no more than three times in each calendar year.
Only issues relating to Tamworth Regional Council or Local Government may be raised.
Issues must be strategic in nature and not relating to personal or individuals issues with Council.
Members of the public will not be permitted to use Community Strategic Sessions to abuse, vilify, insult, threaten, intimidate or harass Councillors, Council staff or other members of the public.
- Conduct of this nature will be deemed to be an act of disorder and the person engaging in such behaviour will be ruled out of the order and may be expelled.
- Council accepts no responsibility for any defamatory statements made by speakers.

At the time of the Council Meeting or within the previous fourteen (14) days of the Council Meeting are experiencing or have experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath (for a full list of symptoms as outlined by NSW Health, please visit Symptoms and testing | NSW Government);
Have travelled at any point in the previous fourteen (14) days either internationally or to a community in Australia that has been classified a COVID-19 case location by the Australian Federal Government or any Australian State Government; or
Believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
