At the most recent Council meeting, we agreed to start making some serious decisions about Ray Walsh House, and acknowledged this conversation is bigger than one building.
The General Manager will prepare a comprehensive options paper exploring the future of Ray Walsh House, as well as office accommodation for Council staff, and the possibility of a new Visitor Experience Centre.
The feasibility and costs of a new administration building and Visitor Experience Centre at the Peel Street site near the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame and Hungry Jack’s will be included in the report. It will cover timeframes and a full valuation of Ray Walsh House, with the final cost to remove asbestos and reinsulate the building.
We need to put aside misinformation and discuss this in an open manner to make a sound, responsible decisions for our community now and for future generations.
