The 2025 Koori Knockout is set to bring big energy to the capital of country this October long weekend! From 3 to 6 October, Tamworth will welcome thousands of players, families and supporters for one of regional New South Wales' biggest sporting events and the nation’s largest gathering of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
More than just thrilling footy, the Knockout is a proud celebration of culture, connection and community spirit.
We're proud to be hosting the Koori Knockout after the Walgett Aboriginal Connection (WAC) nominated Tamworth, built on Gamilaroi Country, as the next host city. Aside from showcasing some of Australia’s past and present NRL and NRLW talent, the Koori Knockout will deliver strong benefits for our region.
An estimated total impact of more than $5.2 million and the creation of 29 jobs is expected for the duration of the event, with local businesses, accommodation providers and community groups in Tamworth reaping the rewards from this major event.
More importantly though, the Koori Knockout is much-loved for its uniting spirit, bringing people from across the state together in a powerful celebration of community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
To prepare for the action, Council’s Sports and Recreation team have been hard at work for more than six months, applying turf care, fertilisation and pest management processes across the Riverside Sporting Fields, and it's looking great!
