Free fun at 2024 Seniors Festival

The largest seniors festival in the Southern Hemisphere is coming to the Tamworth region.
Tamworth Regional Council will be hosting a range of free events in the region for our senior citizens during the 2024 Seniors Festival. From 11 March – 24 March events will be targeted towards providing quality opportunities for connections between seniors, through recreational and educational activities.
Tamworth Regional Councillor Judy Coates acknowledges the importance of our seniors and their contributions to local communities.
“Seniors play a huge role in communities and are often volunteers for a wide range of community groups. Being able to provide opportunities specific for seniors is a fantastic way of saying thank you and to help keep their connectedness with the community”.
With Reach Beyond being the theme for 2024, activities that will run in the Tamworth region include:
- Cultural activities and morning teas at Barraba, Manilla and Nundle library offices on Tuesday 12, Friday 15 and Tuesday 19 March respectively
- Miriidhuul Creations Art and Culture Connection at The Youthie on Wednesday 13 March
- Ngaar Wirribiiyan at The Youthie on Wednesday 20 March
- Oz Harvest Nutrition Education Skills Training program – featuring learning activities and games in a group setting, building skills and knowledge on nutrition and practical cooking skills. Facilitated by HealthWISE and held weekly for 6 weeks at The Youthie starting Thursday 14 March.
HealthWISE is excited to bring this program to the region “HealthWISE has proudly partnered with OzHarvest to bring the Nutrition Education and Skills Training program to Tamworth. Previously only available in metropolitan areas where; 95% of participants were more confident to make healthy food choices on a budget, and 90% would recommend the program to family and friends”.
These events are supported by the NSW Government through the NSW Seniors Festival Grant program.
