2024 Tamworth Regional Heritage Awards

The biennial Tamworth Heritage Awards are set to take place on Friday 19 April, 2024, with nominations now open. Individuals, organisations, and companies are invited to submit their nominations by 5 pm, Thursday 21 March, 2024.

 

The Tamworth Regional Heritage Awards celebrate and recognise outstanding contributions to heritage preservation and promotion within the region. The biennial awards cover diverse categories, reflecting the multifaceted heritage tapestry of Tamworth. The categories include:
  • Warren Newman Memorial for Contribution to Heritage within the Region
  • Aboriginal Cultural Heritage
  • Adaptive Reuse
  • Building Conservation
  • Heritage Resources, Tourism, Education, and Interpretation and Publication
  • Sympathetic Development

 

Councillor Helen Tickle, Chairperson of the Tamworth Regional Heritage Working Group, emphasised the importance of the Heritage Awards in showcasing the rich heritage of the region.
“These awards play a special role in preserving Tamworth’s heritage and recognise those who are striving to share pieces of heritage with the community”.

 

The Awards ceremony taking place at the Tamworth Regional Gallery will also launch the start of the 2024 Tamworth Regional Heritage Festival. The festival itself will run for ten days until Sunday 28 April, and will feature a host of events across the region to celebrate the many facets of our heritage. There will also be daily exhibitions open across numerous facilities during the Festival.
