‘Tis the season for the Lighting of the Christmas Tree

Bring the family along to a special evening as we launch into Christmas festivities! The annual Tamworth Community Lighting of the Christmas Tree event will be held on Thursday, 7 December 2023, in Fitzroy Street Plaza.

This free and family friendly event, will be jampacked with entertainment. There will be kids crafts and activities including face painting, performances from Dance Dynamics and Tamworth City Dance Academy as well as The Conservatorium of Music ensemble who will perform Christmas carols with the youth orchestra and choir. Plus, there will be mesmerizing light projections by Artist Daniel Elliott.

Natasha Little, Tamworth Regional Council Event Officer is excited for the event saying “Officially lighting up the community Christmas tree is a fun way to kick off the festive season and share a bit of Christmas magic with the Tamworth community. We have a lot of market stall holders involved this year, along with performances from local talent”.

There are over 25 market stalls confirmed to attend on the night, set to provide a big array of food, entertainment and products – perfect for gift ideas.

The event will kick off from 5:30pm and will be a family friendly, fun evening, of course with a visit from Santa Claus.

Santa’s Workshop will be open on the night, however craft making has already begun with Santa’s Workshop in Fitzroy Street Plaza having opened on Saturday 2 December for kids Christmas crafts and letter writing to Santa.
