Make an Informal and Open Access Request (access to Open Access Information).

This application is to be used to access information held within Council’s property files or stored electronically on Council’s record management system where it meets the criteria of open access or government information under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.

Please note the GIPA Act provides no statutory time frame by which informal requests must be decided within and Formal Access Applications are prioritised due to strict legislative timeframes.

Accordingly, please allow six weeks for your application to be assessed.

Property Information Requests (open access documents) – Pre - 1 July 2010 (the plans and specifications for any residential parts of a proposed building, development applications and any associated documents received (whether before, on or after that date) in relation to the application.

Applicable to all applicants – Real Estate Agents, current homeowners, prospective purchasers, Conveyancers, Solicitors

(This fee includes 2 hours of processing)

Property requests – Post 1 July 2010 (DA Consents, Occupation Certificates, Plans, Occupation Certificates, Final Inspection and Building Certificates etc)

No fee in accordance with the Government Information (Public Access) Regulation 2018

Copyright

In accordance with the Copyright Act 1968, Council is not permitted to reproduce any plans or reports without the copyright owner’s consent. Upon receiving this request, Council will locate the requested documents and provide you with the copyright owner’s details. 

Owner's Consent

Under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, Council is prohibited from providing internal residential floor plans to third parties without the current owner’s consent. Owner/s permission is also required to access Council property files for all development information prior to July 2010.

  • Please note that the Informal Information Access Request Form includes provision for owner's consent.

How do I obtain a copy of a drainage diagram (for plumbing purposes)

You can request a copy of a drainage diagram for a property via Council’s Development Hub.  There is a fee for the search of the drainage diagram and owner’s consent is required.

Requesting copies of certificates that have an expiry date.

These applications include:

  • Planning Certificates
  • Outstanding Notices

As the information provided in these documents are only current for the day they are issued – applications are advised to lodge a new application via Council’s Development Hub.

What can I do if a Final/Occupation Certificate is unable to be located in Council’s records

If there is no evidence of a final/occupation Certificate recorded in Council’s system please request assistance via the Development Hub.

How do I view existing applications lodged with Council

You are able to access limited information with regard to applications lodged with Council via the Application Tracker.  These applications include:

  • Development Applications
  • Construction Certificates
  • Complying Development Applications (where Council is the Appointed Certifier)

How do I view development applications that are lodged via the NSW Planning Portal

Development Applications that are being notified are placed on exhibition on the NSW Planning Portal. Redacted documents can be viewed and submissions submitted (during the exhibition period)
