Feel connected at our 2024 Meet and Greets

Wednesday, 1 May 2024

Tamworth Regional Council is proud to announce the launch of their “Community Meet and Greet” event schedule for 2024. Previously known as the “New Residents Event”, three networking-style events have been scheduled in May, August and October to help those who have just moved to the Tamworth region meet new people and learn more about the community.

With the launch of the New Residents Event series in 2023, Mayor Russell Webb is looking forward to seeing the event grow.

“These events are all about making sure our community is cohesive, inclusive, accessible and above all – welcoming. Whether you’ve been here for two months or two years, we want to ensure that new residents feel equipped with enough information to get involved and have a crack”.

To help target specific interests, three key event themes have been established for each Community Meet and Greet. The first event, held on Monday 20 May at the Tamworth Community Centre, will focus on community and connection. The second event, held on Tuesday 6 August, will focus on social networking. The last event, Sunday 27 October, will focus on joining teams.

Natasha Little, Event Officer at Tamworth Regional Council, said that creating three distinct event themes aims to create key focus areas when moving to a new town.

“As there are so many facets and groups within our wonderful community, we want to ensure that new residents are able to have meaningful interactions at each event without feeling rushed or overwhelmed”.

Those attending the Community Meet and Greet event on Monday, May 20 can expect a range of community-based organisations and local volunteer groups to be present at the Tamworth Community Centre from 3  - 7pm, with catering and friendly conversation guaranteed. Both new residents and local residents are welcome to attend.
