Choosing a street tree
The following information is provided to assist in the selection of the right tree for the nature strip at the front of your property.
Below are the tree species which have been selected by Council as suitable street trees. The filters to the right of your screen can assist in selecting a tree that will suit your property.
Some streets or roads have tree species which have been selected as a theme, however for the majority of our streets or roads residents can select any of the following trees, as long as it is determined to be suitable for the location by Council.
When will Council plant the tree I select?
Street tree planting occurs in the first two months of each Spring (September and October) and Autumn (March and April). Please note that some species can only be planted during a particular season, which is identified against each species listed below.
To register your interest in having a tree planted in front of your property, please complete the form at the bottom of this page. Your request will be assessed and if the species you have selected is in stock then Council will organise to plant the tree in the next planting period.
Please note that Council cannot guarantee that your preferred species will be in stock at the time of the next planting period. In this case, Council will contact you to discuss a suitable alternative to be planted.
Currently Council is only planting Native Species trees/shrubs. Note: Unless you live in a street which has been themed, please refer to the Street Tree Hierarchy list (PDF 168.5KB).
This initiative is only available to urban properties. An urban property is classified as a property where the road speed limit is 60km per hour or less.
