Start of works - Intersection upgrade in Calala

Drivers who regularly travel along Calala Lane and Campbell Road are advised that work will start on upgrading the intersection from Monday (31 May, 2021).

The intersection is being upgraded to a roundabout to help cater for the future growth in Calala. Both lanes of Calala Lane will remain open during morning and afternoon peak periods. Some delays are still to be expected as the speed limit will be reduced to 40km/h.

Campbell Road from Calala Lane to McDonald Crescent will have kerb and guttering installed and the road upgraded as part of these works. As a result, Campbell Road will be reduced to one lane during parts of construction. A detour has been identified via Osprey Way.

Any school crossings or bus stops located within the construction site will be temporarily relocated to ensure the safety of users. These changes will be clearly signposted onsite. Similarly, pedestrians will be safely diverted around the construction site as required.

Traffic and pedestrian volumes both now and using a conservative estimate of future growth do not meet the minimum requirements set by Transport for NSW for traffic lights at this location.

These works are expected to be completed by late September 2021. We ask all vehicle users and pedestrians to take extra care and obey all signage onsite.
