Lights, Camera, Council!

Local Government Week is coming up from Monday 3 – Sunday 9 August and Tamworth Regional Council is inviting kids of all ages to participate in a brand-new competition to celebrate!

Do you know that Council is responsible for things like road maintenance, waste, libraries, parks, festivals and so much more?

As part of Local Government Week, Tamworth Regional Council is inviting local students to get creative and showcase what local government means to them.

We’re calling on anyone aged 0-18 to create a short performance (song, dance or drama) using a song that relates to a role Council plays in the community. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn, collaborate and have fun while telling an important local story.

Key details:

  1. Individual entries or group entries are welcomed.
  2. Create a performance piece (music, dance or acting) – 3 min max.
  3. The theme is ‘Local Government’ – the interpretation is up to you! The choice of song or script could relate to anything from roads to tourism (see examples below).
  4. Original songs are welcomed.
  5. Entries are due by Thursday 30 July, 5pm

  8. Please note winning entries will be posted to Tamworth Regional Council’s social media (please blur any kids who cannot appear on social media)
