What's on this Australia Day

Australia Day events will be going ahead on Wednesday 26 January in Tamworth, Manilla, Barraba, Manilla, and Bendemeer.

These events have all been planned in accordance with current public health orders, including mandatory QR code check-ins, mandatory face masks, and venue capacity limits for indoor events.  

Tamworth Region Mayor Russell Webb said it is great that we are able to host these events in a COVID-safe manner.“It is important that we come together as a community to celebrate the achievements of others.”

Australia Day Awards will start at 11am at the Barraba RSL Memorial Hall on Queen Street.

The ceremony will be followed by a community lunch at 12pm, which includes free entry to the Barraba Pool.


Australia Day celebrations in Manilla will start at 8am at Pioneer Park. The Australia Day Awards will be presented first followed by a community breakfast, a competition for the best damper and Australia Day Themed Hat.


Tamworth Town Hall will host Australia Day celebrations for the Tamworth city. The packed schedule will start with a church service at 7:30am, breakfast served by rotary at 8:30am. The formalities will start at 9:45am with Len Waters doing the Welcome to Country followed by cultural performances, citizenship ceremony and the presentation of the annual Australia Day awards.As venue capacity limits apply, those wishing to attend will need to RSVP by emailing trc@tamworth.nsw.gov.au before 2pm on Friday 21 January.


The local S355 committee will be hosting Australia Day celebrations in Bendemeer. Formal celebrations will be held at the Bendemeer Hotel Garden at 9am. Following the formal celebrations, involve fun games and activities for the whole family have been planned until 2pm.
