Pools reopen for summer swim season

Pools across the Tamworth region will begin reopening from next week, with five of the seven public pools scheduled to open by Tuesday 11 October.

Pools in Barraba, Kootingal, Nundle and the South and West Tamworth War Memorial Swimming Pool will be open in line with normal operating hours.

The Tamworth Olympic Swimming Pool is ready to open but given its current water temperature is below 20 degrees, and the facility has no heating, it is expected to open in coming weeks when the weather warms up.

The Manilla Memorial Swimming Pool is expected to open over the coming week after taking longer than expected to fill due to water flow issues as a result of the two recent floods in Manilla. The pool is now full and will take a week to balance and meet public health standards.

Manager Sport and Recreation Paul Kelly said “We’re pleased to reopen our pools over the coming week, and encourage residents throughout the region to make use of our great local aquatics facilities.”
