Change of traffic conditions at roundabout

Road users should be advised that the realigned New Winton Road exit at the Country Road Roundabout on the Oxley Highway will be opened to traffic after noon today.

The old New Winton Road exit towards the Tamworth Regional Airport will permanently close as a result. Traffic management will be in place to direct traffic.

Construction will continue on New Winton Road towards the airport, with traffic lights in place to manage traffic where the road is restricted to a single lane.

Final works on New Winton Road will be completed over next three weeks, pending contractor availability.

The $9.543 million Country Road Roundabout has been jointly funded with $4,532,000 from the Australian Government under its Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, $4,056,800 in support from the NSW Government under its Growing Local Economies Fund and $954,200 from Tamworth Regional Council. The roundabout is part of the Tamworth Global Gateway Park project, which received $20.246 million from the NSW Government’s Growing Local Economies Fund in total.
