Council meeting update - 29 March, 2021

Tuesday 29 March, 2021

Here is an overview of outcomes from this afternoon’s Extraordinary Meeting of Tamworth Regional Council:

 In a move to meet the future needs of Tamworth Regional Council’s information management practices, Councillors tonight decided to enter a new agreement with TechnologyOne for the provision of Software as a Service (SaaS) over seven years and three months. They also authorised approval of an exemption from the tendering requirements. A report tabled at the meeting explained how Council has been considering moving to Software as a Service – a cloud-based service delivered through an internet browser. The report revealed Council had negotiated “a very competitive proposal both financially and for implementation timelines’’. The report said the proposal aligns with TechnologyOne’s financial reporting year and is valid only until 31 March, 2021. TechnologyOne is a leading provider of local government solutions in Australia and Council has used its enterprise software for more than 17 years in an “on-premise environment”. “There are significant benefits transitioning to SaaS, among these are improved accessibility and performance, increased scalability, increased capability for online service delivery, greater cybersecurity preventions and a robust business continuity capability,” the report said. Under the Local Government Act, Council is not required to invite tenders where there is an unavailablility of competitive tenders - TechnologyOne is the only supplier which can deliver, manage and support their software under a Software as a Service model.
