Tamworth Regional Gallery will receive $140,000 in arts funding over the next two years to engage and build audiences thanks to funding from the NSW Government.
Gallery Director Bridget Guthrie said, "We are delighted to be a recipient of this funding, which will assist in the ongoing delivery of our artistic program.
“This funding announcement means that we can continue to deliver a resource that inspires, enriches and informs communities in the Tamworth region, and most importantly provides access to the arts including free entry to our exhibitions.”
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said Tamworth Regional Gallery is a hub of artistic talent and passion and for 100 years has provided access to the arts in a regional centre.
“The arts sector has been drastically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Gallery have taken a responsive approach to breaking down barriers to bring the arts to the people.
“The arts are for everyone and thanks to the Gallery country kids who would not normally be able to participate in an afterschool arts class can now access the online art programs. Local artists housebound during the pandemic have participated in plein-air workshops and virtual exhibitions, artist and curator talks delivered by the gallery are keeping people connected.
“The Gallery caters for a range of audiences from young children to older community members, whether you are an art buff or a budding artist casting your first strokes on canvas. The Gallery is providing Click and Collect art packs and delivering art materials to participants in regional and remote areas.
Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said the arts make a vital contribution to our communities and enjoyment in our everyday lives, and through this funding Councils around our state will be supported by the NSW Government to deliver their incredible cultural offerings,” he said.
“This funding from will provide ongoing support for the delivery of high quality arts and culture programs the Gallery it is renowned for”. Mr Anderson concluded.
