Update of roundabout installation in South Tamworth

Friday 3 July, 2020

The new roundabout at the intersection of Hillvue Road and Garden Street will be open for traffic from Friday 9 July.

The intersection has had a history of traffic collisions with seven incidents over the past six years injuring either drivers or passengers.

Tamworth Region Mayor, Col Murray said that the new roundabout will help make the street safer for drivers.

“We know this is a very busy road, especially on weekdays with traffic from local schools. This will help traffic flow safely through the intersection.”

The final stage of works, including the installation of the roundabout were scheduled during school holidays in order avoid high volumes of traffic.

Works have also involved improving the road surface, realignment of the road surface, rehabilitation of disturbed areas and an upgrade to the stormwater catchment.

This project is funded by the NSW Government under the Fixing Country Roads program with a $610,000 grant.
