Memorial Categories

Warren Newman Memorial for Contribution to Heritage within the Region

A person who has made a significant and ongoing voluntary contribution to the conservation, promotion and/or understanding of cultural heritage in the community.

All Other Categories

Aboriginal Cultural Heritage

This award recognises projects that seek to promote understanding, appreciation, conservation and/or awareness of Aboriginal heritage. 

Adaptive Reuse

This category is for projects that complement and utilise existing heritage fabric, repurposing, and new developments which are sympathetic to the traditional uses of a site and its structures and which protect the heritage integrity.

Building Conservation

Projects that relate to conservation of our built heritage. Such projects may include a range of conservation works to buildings, structures or sites, commercial items, churches, houses interiors, or collections.

Heritage Resources and Publication

Projects may include historical research or conservation management plan documents.

Heritage Tourism, Education and Interpretation

Publications, exhibitions, displays, site interpretations, school based programs. This may be a walking track, historical trail, festival, event, bed and breakfast, hotel, tourist accommodation, performance or business that provides visitors with access and/or interpretation of a heritage place.

New Sympathetic Development

Infill design projects where new buildings have preserved the special qualities that give a place character in a way that respects the old while reflecting the new and meeting the amenity needs of its users.

All applications must be accompanied by a minimum of four (4) supporting photographs. (Minimum size 800KB)
Terms and Conditions

Who is eligible to apply?

The Tamworth Regional Heritage Awards are open to all individuals, property owners, architects, developers, builders, government and non-government agencies. 
Any member of the public can nominate themselves, a colleague or an organisation for the awards.
An individual, place or project may also be nominated in multiple categories. 
The awards are open to any work completed since 16 March, 2018 and must be located within the Tamworth Local Government Area.
Previous award winners are not eligible to apply for the same project unless the project has been added to or altered or changed since the original award was won.

Other Awards Nomination Information 

Award nomination submissions will be retained by the Tamworth Regional Council and may be used for promotional opportunities at the discretion of the Council.
It is the responsibility of those nominating projects to ensure that all care has been taken to identify and acknowledge the contribution and work of all relevant parties.
Nominations will close strictly at 4pm on Thursday, 19 March, 2020.
