Changed Traffic Conditions Water Main Upgrade Stage 1 Sandy Road, Kootingal
Tamworth Regional Council will be carrying out the upgrade to the Kootingal water main from Well No 5 on Sandy Road to the twin Reservoirs.
The project is expected to take approximately 6 months. Stage 1 will be to construction the 1.34km section of the water main on Sandy Road from Well No 5 to the intersection of Sandy Road and Denman Ave.
The water main will be constructed on the western side of Sandy Road; during construction Sandy Road will be reduced to 40km and one lane, traffic lights will be used to control the traffic flow, Council apologies for the delays. Appropriate signage shall be in place to advise traffic of the changed traffic conditions.
These works are programmed to commence on Monday 5 March 2012, weather permitting and the changed traffic conditions will be in place from Wednesday 7 March 2012. It is expected that Stage 1 work on Sandy Road will take about 6 week to complete.
This project will involve construction of a 3.65km water main from Well No 5 to the twin reservoirs. This will be cut into 4 stages and information will be issued prior to each stage commencing.
- Stage 1 – Sandy Road, Well No 5 to Denman Ave intersection.
- Stage 2 – Denman Ave, Sandy Road intersection to Gate Street.
- Stage 3 – Denman Ave, Gate Street to Dorothy Ave.
- Stage 4 – New England Highway Dorothy Ave to Twin Reservoirs.
Traffic in the affected areas need to take extreme care entering and exiting construction areas.
