Waste collection services in Tamworth region
Tamworth Regional Council provides a broad range of waste collection services across the Council area which can include recycling, garden organics, garbage and bulky household goods collections.
From 31 August 2009, Tamworth Regional Council commenced a new Waste Collection Contract to provide roadside garbage and recycling collection services to a larger area of the region. This is the first time since amalgamation of the former Barraba, Manilla, Nundle, Parry and Tamworth Councils back in 2004, that Tamworth Regional Council will have the same waste contractor to collect waste from all the serviceable areas within its boundary. Council will be working with Transpacific Cleanaway in providing these services.
To request for new waste service collection please download and complete an Application for Waste Services. For more information please download the new waste guide.
What does that mean for you
If your property is within a defined village/town or rural residential area of the service your property will have access to both roadside garbage and recycling service. Additionally if you are located within certain areas of the Tamworth City or Moonbi and Kootingal villages, you will have access to a roadside garden organics service.
It is important to note that both recycling and garden organics collections will be conducted on a fortnightly basis. For those who have access to both these services, collections will be conducted on alternate weeks. Residents within the Tamworth collection area will generally only receive a new recycling bin and keep their existing garbage and garden organics bins. Recycling crates are no longer used and can be retained at the property.
The defined village/town areas of Kootingal, Moonbi, Barraba, Manilla and Nundle, will also receive two bulky household goods collections per year. These services are advertised extensively prior to collection dates and occur in June and November each year.
Missed Garbage, Recycling or Green Waste Collection
Has your roadside garbage, recycling or green waste collection been missed? Then please contact and report it to the Contractor by phoning the Waste Hotline on 1300 530 535.
The following reasons may have prevented the contractor from servicing your bin:
- the lid wasn’t closed properly or there was excessive items sticking out of the bin
- there was contamination in the recycling or green waste (items that should not be there)
- the bin was too heavy
- items were not placed in the provided receptacles
In such circumstance the contractor will generally place a notice on your bin to alert you to the problem.
For more information please download an easy reference guide on what can and can not go in your waste collection bins.
What to do if your bin is lost, damaged or stolen
If your bin has been lost, damaged or stolen, contact the Waste Hotline on 1300 530 535. Charges may apply for bin replacements.
