The Taminda Revitalisation and Economic Development Strategy aims to revitalise the Region’s long established industrial area and provide new opportunities for economic growth and employment generation. The revitalisation has commenced with the rezoning and release of approximately 24 hectares of additional industrial lands and 12 hectares for business development. The rezoning is intended to address the previous shortage of industrial land in Tamworth, support the creation of new jobs and boost economic development.
The key objectives of the Taminda Revitalisation and Economic Development Strategy are:
- to ensure that Taminda remains the premier industrial precinct in the New England–North West by responding to increased demand for industrial land
- to enable the precinct to receive a much needed “face lift” as well as improving access and amenity and facilities for all users
New thoroughfares are proposed as part of a staged capital works program which will include road network improvements, directional signage, upgraded streetlighting and landscaping.
Implementation of the Taminda Revitalisation Strategy
Implementation of the Strategy will be assisted by a Working Group consisting of local business people and Council representatives. The Taminda Revitalisation Working Group meets regularly to discuss the implementation program and to provide feedback and input with regard to key initiatives including preparation of a capital works program, a Traffic Management Strategy and a Marketing and Promotional Plan.
The Working Group is an important resource, facilitating communication and enabling positive interaction between Council and the Taminda community.
