Council provides an enquiry service for planning and building related matters through the Duty Planner or Duty Building Inspector.
These officers will be able to advise which Council controls apply to your proposal and answer any questions you may have about the development and building process. Talking to this officer is a good starting point and should help you decide if your proposal will be acceptable to Council, or if you need to reconsider or modify your proposal.
Please be aware, this service is not designed to provide a detailed assessment of your application and is available only to assist and guide applicants on development controls. If you need detailed advice or are seeking to redevelop a site for a larger or more complex proposal and would like greater certainty as to whether your development application will be acceptable, Council offers a Pre-Development Application Service including a Development Advisory Panel and a Preliminary Development Application service, which allows you to lodge your proposal to obtain a preliminary assessment and written feedback.
Council’s Duty Planner is available to answer your planning questions between 9:00am to 10:30am and 3:30pm to 5:00pm weekdays.
The Duty Planner or Building Inspector may be contacted by phoning (02) 6767 5552 or by visiting Council offices between these hours. Outside these hours, officers are only available by appointment.
