Parents are being urged to take advantage of free child restraint safety check vouchers that are being distributed from the Tamworth Regional Council Customer Services Department in Peel Street Tamworth.
Tamworth Regional Council has joined with Gordon Austin’s (NRMA Road Service Provider) to deliver this child restraint road safety program that allows the recipient an opportunity to have their child restraints checked at a time that suits them.
There are only a limited amount of vouchers available so don’t miss out. Vouchers can be redeemed up until Friday June 11 2010.
According to Council’s Road Safety Officer, Paul Hobson, spending a couple of minutes having a child’s restraint checked by a professional could save a child’s life.
“Parents have best intentions when they install a child restraint themselves, however having it checked can offer peace of mind that things are safe and correct”, said Mr Hobson.
Research shows that many children are not being seated in the right restraint for their size. And all too often, children are being moved from booster seats into adult seats too soon.
Mr Hobson said that this can increase the risk of injuries in the event of a crash.
