The rattle and bangs of early Christmas morning won’t just be Santa on his way around town – but garbos doing their festive bit across Tamworth Regional Council early on Christmas Day.
Normal garbage and recycling collections will go on in a couple of areas across the TRC area on Friday – although the garbos will get up earlier and change some timetables to fit in their Santa and Christmas lunch festivities too.
Tamworth garbage trucks will be on deck earlier than usual and from about 4:30am Christmas Day doing the normal run through the north Tamworth, Oxley Vale, Daruka, Hills Plain and Lemon Gums residential areas for garbage, recycling and green waste, depending on the fortnightly calendar.
In Manilla and Attunga, where Friday is a normal collection day, pickups for garbage will start a little later than usual and finish by about mid-afternoon but recycling in the mainly Manilla east zone will start from 4:30am.
Residents are encouraged to put out their bins before going to bed to make sure they don’t miss the Santa waste day.
All other services to all other TRC areas for garbage and recycling operate as normal after Christmas Day, including New Year’s Day. All council garbage tips are closed on Christmas Day but resume as normal after that.
