Tamworth Region residents with a passion for the food and wine industry are being urged to get involved with the TASTE Festival Advisory Committee.
Tamworth Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest in community representative roles on the newly-formed committee.
Council has established an advisory committee to oversee the ongoing development, marketing and operation of the TASTE Festival following its decision in July to take up ownership of the event incorporating TASTE in the Park and The Long Lunch.
The TASTE Committee Tamworth Inc, which formed in 2009, asked Council to take over the running of the festival through Destination Tamworth.
The new committee will provide direction and leadership to ensure the TASTE Festival continues to develop as a premier event.
Council is seeking expressions of interest to fill the following community representative roles on the committee:
- Food/wine industry representatives
- Marketing/sponsorship specialists
- Entrepreneurial/business specialists
Expressions of interest for a community representative position should outline skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the management of the festival and be submitted by 3pm this Friday (28 September). For information contact Gavin Flanagan on 6767 5504.
Tamworth's TASTE Festival is the highlight of the town's culinary calendar and has helped raised more than $20,000 for Ronald McDonald House in the past three years.
Any profit generated from the TASTE Festival while it is overseen by Destination Tamworth will be added to Council's donations vote and the funds allocated to local community groups in accordance with Council policy.
