A Tamworth Regional Council road show will travel to five locations across the local area next month to celebrate Local Government Week 2012.
Council will set up a range of informative displays at Barraba, Manilla, Nundle, Moonbi and Tamworth to celebrate the 2012 theme of Local Knowledge, Local Services, Local Communities.
The road show will run from 10am to noon at each location and give community members details about the range of services and facilities which Council provides – from roads and libraries to community care operations and event venues.
It will visit Barraba Mall on Monday 13 August, Pioneer Park at Manilla on Tuesday 14 August, Nundle Courthouse Museum on Wednesday 15 August, Moonbi Museum on Thursday 16 August and Ray Walsh House forecourt in Peel Street, Tamworth on Friday 17 August.
‘There are a wide range of services and facilities Council provides to our community,’ said Tamworth Mayor Col Murray.
‘The work of the Council and its staff extends far beyond providing roads, collecting garbage and supplying water. I encourage residents to see the Council displays at one of the locations and find out more about the things Council does which help to make the lives of local residents better.’ Council is also running a Your Community photo competition as part of Local Government Week.
Residents are encouraged to capture an image of any subject which makes them feel proud of their local community. Entries must be submitted electronically by using the online entry form before Monday, August 6. Entry is free.
