Tamworth region councillors last night decided to cancel their Ordinary Meeting scheduled for Tuesday September 11 because the outcome of the Local Government Election three days earlier is unlikely to be finalised.
Local Government Elections will be held across NSW on Saturday 8 September.
Councillors voted in support of a recommendation for the September 11 meeting to be cancelled because counting of votes is 'unlikely to be determined'.
Other outcomes of last night's meeting include:
- Formal adoption of Council's Draft Strategic Companion Animal Management Plan (SCAMP).
- A decision to renominate Cr Paul Durant and Cr Russell Webb as Council's representative on the Northern Regional Joint Regional Planning Panel. Councillors Ray Tat, Phil Betts and James Treloar were renominated as alternate representatives.
- The go ahead to create additional car parking spaces in Denison Street, Tamworth near Calala Cottage though approval of additional 60 degree rear to kerb angle parking on the western side of the street.
- Approval of the temporary closure of Longyard Drive on Wednesday 22 August at the conclusion of the Catholic Schools of Tamworth's bi-annual performance at Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre. The section of the road on the southern side of the centre will be closed for a period at the conclusion of the event.
