Some additional temporary CBD road closures come into effect tomorrow morning to allow the Country Music Cavalcade to take place.
The colourful street parade, which is one of the highlights of the Festival each year, starts at the corner of Peel and Hill streets at 9am and makes its way along Peel St to Viaduct Park.
There will be some additional temporary CBD road closures to traffic from 7am to 11am on Saturday 28 January associated with the Cavalcade.
They include the closure, from 7am to 10am, of Roderick Street from Byrnes Ave to Kable Ave, Peel Street from Murray St to Hill Street and Peel Street from Hill Street to White Street.
There will also be closures, from 7am to 11am tomorrow, of Peel Street from Darling Street to Bligh Street, Macquarie Street and O’Connell Street will be closed at Marius Street, Hill St between Peel and Kable, Kable Ave from Hill Street towards White Street and Hill Street between Byrnes Ave and Peel Street.
The only access from Marius Street into Kable Avenue will be via White Street until 8.50am when White St will close.
This year 110 floats, bands and various equine groups have registered for the Cavalcade make their way from the corner of Peel and Hill Streets through the CBD ending at Viaduct Park. The Cavalcade is one of the most colourful and fun-filled events of the 10-day long Festival and draws a big crowd.
Yesterday at 4pm, an extra block of Peel Street - from Bourke Street to Darling St – was closed to traffic as is the usual practice for the final days of the Festival. It will reopen to traffic at 7am on Sunday, January 29.
