Tickets On Sale Next Monday for Optus Flix in the Stix
Thursday 9 February 2012
Tickets for one of the most exciting events to come to Tamworth go on sale from next Monday 13th February 2012. Featuring highly respected Australian singer-songwriter James Reyne and renowned bush poet Murray Hartin, Optus Flix in the Stix will take place at Bicentennial Park on Friday 16th March 2012.
As well as live performances by Reyne and Hartin, the Tamworth audience will be indulged with some of the best short films currently on offer from both Australia and overseas. The short films will be screened on a large airscreen erected on-site under the stars at Bicentennial Park.
‘The line up is shaping up to be one of the most exciting short film festivals to tour regional Australia,’ said Simon Rollin, founder of Optus Flix in the Stix. ‘Almost all of the films have won awards however the best part is that they are all entertaining and unique in nature. The venue and ambience on the Village Green at Bicentennial Park is superb so all things bode well for a memorable first event in Tamworth.’
Started in January 2009 at the Parkes Elvis Festival, Optus Flix in the Stix has quickly grown to become one of the best nights out in regional Australia.
‘We were tired of having to travel to see great acts,’ said Rollin who lives in Orange. ‘So we decided to do something about it and get the entertainment to come to us. This is such a great opportunity for families in regional areas to enjoy quality entertainment and there is something to suit everyone.’
The tour comes to Tamworth for the first time in 2012 with organisers keen to make it a regular stop on the tour pending local support. An additional feature of the 2012 events is the new Optus Yellow Grass area for those seeking the full VIP Flix treatment. Optus Yellow Grass tickets include a reserved beanbag in prime viewing location, dinner and a complimentary Little Creatures beer or glass of wine.
Tickets are available from www.flixinthestix.com.au or directly from Moshtix www.moshtix.com.au/flixinthestix. Patrons can also purchase tickets over the counter at Destination Tamworth on the corner of Peel & Murray Streets.
