The Namoi Local Government Group (NLGG) is a partnership between the Namoi Catchment Management Authority and local councils in the Namoi Catchment.
The Group was formed to work collaboratively on natural resource management projects to achieve a healthy and viable catchment through effective and sustainable management of our natural resources.

The participating members of the Group are:

- Liverpool Plains Shire Council
- Narrabri Shire Council
- Walcha Shire Council
- Walgett Shire Council
- Tamworth Regional Council
- Namoi Catchment Management Authority (CMA)
What types of projects does the Namoi Local Government Group undertake
Participation in projects is voluntary and usually based on the relevance of the particular project to the needs of the Council. Recent projects have included:
- Urban Water Efficiency
- Care for Country Aboriginal Heritage
- Roadside Vegetation
- Urban Riparian Rehabilitation
- Point Source Pollution
- Namoi Urban Sustainability Plan
What project is the Namoi Local Government Group working on currently
The Group has recently completed the Namoi Urban Sustainability Plan and will be working toward implementing the actions of this Plan.
The Group is also participating in the Urban Riparian Project which allows the individual Councils to undertake projects that will improve the condition of riparian zones within nominated towns.
Within Tamworth, the project will provide a high profile, model section of riparian land with enhanced nature conservation values, educational values and public recreation opportunities in the centre of the City. The project will rehabilitate and revegetate approximately 750 metres of riparian land along the Peel River adjacent to the Tamworth CBD.
