Tamworth Regional Council offers customers a range of options for rate payments.

Direct Debit – Cheque/Savings Account
This is the most cost-effective method to pay your rates.
Council can automatically deduct the amount due by quarterly instalments or the payment in full on the due date of the first instalment. Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly deductions can be arranged with Council.
To arrange a direct debit, download the Direct Debit Application Form. Please refer to the Direct Debit Service Agreement for terms and conditions.
MyPost Digital Mailbox
Regional Council has joined a growing number of service providers that
can offer customers the convenience and security of the MyPost Digital
is a handy online tool run by Australia Post that provides a free email
based system to receive, pay and manage bills, statements and other
transactions. By signing up to the system with Australia Post you can use your digital mailbox to:
- Receive and pay selected bills
- Upload and securely store important documents
- Receive notifications and reminders
- Schedule payments

Pay in person at any Australia Post Office or agency. Please take your rate notice when making your payment.

BPAY – Cheque/Savings Account
This is available for payments via telephone or internet:
- contact your financial institution’s telephone or internet banking facility for details
- quote Council’s Rates Biller Code 4457 or Water Biller Code 4473
- quote your reference number shown under the BPay details on your rate or water notice
Use Centrepay to make regular deductions from your Centrelink payment. Centrepay is a voluntary and easy payment option available to Centrelink customers. Go to humanservices.gov.au/Centrepay
for more information. To complete a Centrepay Deduction Form go to www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/forms/sa325. The account number with the service provider is your property number (shown in the top right hand corner of the front page of your rates or water notice) and Council's Service Provider's Centrepay Reference Number is 555 054 067V.
Payments can be made at any Council Customer Service Centre via cash, cheque, EFTPOS and Credit Card. A surcharge applies to all payments made via credit cards. The surcharge rate is the current rate charged by the financial institution at the time of the payment. To locate the closest branch office please visit the contact information page.
Cheques must be made payable to ‘Tamworth Regional Council’ and crossed ‘Not Negotiable’.

I’m currently experiencing financial hardship, what help is available?
Council recognises there are cases of genuine financial hardship requiring respect and compassion. Council has a ‘Ratepayers Hardship Policy’ which provides guidelines for the assessment of hardship applications. If you cannot pay your rates by the dates required then please contact Council’s Debt Recovery Officer on 1300 733 625 to discuss alternate payment arrangements.
