The Tamworth Region covers 9,653 square kilometres and has a population of over 58,000. From the Nandewar Range north of Barraba, to the head of the Peel River and the Great Dividing Range, Tamworth Region is one of the most progressive and exciting places in inland Australia. Tamworth  Regional  Council  operates  an  impressive  array  of  community facilities,  including  six libraries, six museums, six public swimming pools, three community centres and an art gallery.  We use a community-centred approach to encourage local communities to participate in planning and decision making processes and have established 44 community development committees, more than any other council in NSW.
