(2 year Temporary Position)
Council wishes to engage a highly motivated and well organized person to undertake this important regional position. We need you to be a great communicator, very good at organizing yourself, self driven, a quick learner, good with computers, excellent record keeper and have a basic awareness of environmental issues.
This position works with 13 Councils from the New England/North West of NSW to initiate and deliver sustainable waste management programs. This is an opportunity for the right person to enjoy the challenge of working with the Region’s Councils as they aspire to improve environmental outcomes for their respective communities.
Tamworth Regional Council as the host Council for this regional position is seeking the services of an individual with experience in initiating and delivering projects.
You will be responsible for:
- Facilitating collaboration between member councils to improve the management of waste
- Coordinating regional waste education initiatives
- Coordinating delivery of regional waste management programs
- Securing ongoing grant funding through development and enhancement of regional partnerships
- Facilitating media coverage and community awareness of the group’s activities, programs and objectives
- Maintaining effective relationships with all levels of Government
- Record keeping and administration of NIRW programs
The applicant will need to possess a Diploma in Business Administration, Media or equivalent experience in project delivery, business or marketing as well as hold a current Drivers Licence.

The successful applicant must be keen to undertake professional and interpersonal training as required. Additionally the applicant must be willing to travel throughout the region, including overnight stays, as well as attend regional, state and commonwealth forums relating to waste management on behalf of the region.
This position has been classified as a Grade15 with a salary range of $1166.30 to $1262.00 for an equivalent of 35 hours work per week which includes a roster day off in each fortnight. The hours of work will vary and will include some weekend work for special events and exhibitions. A flexible approach to working hours to meet regional needs will be essential. A suitable vehicle is provided for business use and is available for private leaseback in accordance with Council’s policy. The position is based in Tamworth.
