The Tamworth Regional Council Sportsground Plan of Management is a broad policy document that provides a framework for the use and development of sports grounds located on community land in the Tamworth urban area.
Within the Tamworth Regional Council area, sports utilising the sporting grounds include netball, cricket, softball, baseball, touch football, Australian rules football, rugby union, oztag, soccer and rugby league.
The Plan of Management has three core objectives:
- encourage, promote and facilitate recreational pursuits in the community involving organised and informal sporting activities and games
- ensure that such activities are managed having a regard to any adverse impact on nearby residences
- facilitate the effective, equitable and efficient management of the land
