Council Enterprises and Venues
Council operates a number of enterprises and venues that play a vital role in the community, from promoting the region’s economic development and supplying essential infrastructure to providing childcare and cultural events.
Economic Development
Tamworth Regional Council is involved in a number of ventures designed to sustain and further develop the region’s dynamic economy. Council's Destination Development Division works on behalf of Council to actively promote and develop tourism in all areas of the region. Council also operates the Tamworth Regional Livestock Marketing Centre, the leading facility for fat cattle and sheep sales in north west NSW. Another key facility is Tamworth Regional Airport, the largest regional airport in Australia.

Community Facilities
Council operates a number of facilities that benefit the community in a variety of ways. Year Round Care is a not-for-profit organisation that operates two centres offering out of school care. Council also operates Manellae Lodge, which offers aged and respite care. An average of 300 visitors a week use Council’s Yacannabuybetta Buy Back Centre, which sells goods originally discarded as waste.

Sustainability
Tamworth Regional Council is responsible for key pieces of community infrastructure, including the Calala Water Treatment Plant in Tamworth and five sewerage treatment works across the region. Council’s water recycling capability is being increased through construction of a new sewerage treatment facility and wastewater reuse system. Council also operates the NATA-accredited Tamworth Environmental Laboratory.
