The Tamworth Regional Sports Awards are an annual event and initiative proudly coordinated by Tamworth Regional Council to recognise outstanding achievements by individuals or teams in the region. The performance qualifying period for the 2010 awards was from 1 October 2010 to 30 September 2011.
The Tamworth Regional Sports Awards are an initiative of Tamworth Regional Council and are proudly sponsored by The Northern Daily Leader, FM 92.9, Peel Valley Milk and Struddy's Tamworth.


Sports Awards Dinner
The 2011 Tamworth Regional Sports Awards dinner will be held on Thursday 24 November 2011 at The Tamworth Sports Dome, Jack Smyth Drive, Tamworth.
Alan Tongue, who retired from his rugby league career this year, and teen cyclist Sam Spokes will be special guests. Tongue played more than 200 NRL premiership matches and finished his career as captain of the Canberra Raiders. Spokes, who was named Young Sports Star at the last years awards, is home in Tamworth after completing his first European competition season with Belgian Club Quick-Step EFC.
Tickets will be available from Tamworth Sports Dome from 1 November 2011: $25 adults and $15 for children.
Award Criteria
- nominations can be made for individual sports stars, teams, coaches or administrators
- the nominee must be a resident of the Tamworth Regional Council Area or lived in the area in the previous 12 months
- nominations are for achievements in sport (e.g. performances, representative selection, contributions etc.)
- the award period runs from 1 October to 30 September each year Categories
- Junior Sports Star (U14 as at 30 September 2011)
- Young Sports Star (U18 as at 30 September 2011)
- Senior Sports Star (over 55)
- Sports Star of the Year
- Services to Sport Award
- Ken McKenzie Award for Services to Junior Sport
- Coach of the Year
- Junior Coach of the Year
- Junior Sports Team of the Year (U14)
- Young Sports Team of the Year (U18)
