The After School Care (ASC) service operates at two locations. The South Tamworth Centre is at Hillvue School on Hillvue Road and the East Tamworth Centre is at Tamworth Public School on Brisbane Street. Childcare is available for children aged from 5 to 12 years old and is provided from 3:00pm to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
Year Round Care is an approved service under National Regulations for Education and Care Services. The program follows the guidelines from ‘My Time Our Place’ the Framework for School aged Care in Australia. We ensure children’s time at our service is enjoyable, safe and inclusive environment.
ASC is approved for 30 children daily at South Tamworth and 80 children at East Tamworth. As part of our accreditation, there is always a ratio of one staff member to 15 children and all staff hold current qualifications including a current First Aid Certificate. Children from any school in Tamworth are able to attend this service. Children are met at bus stops or walk to the Centre.
Activities at ASC include board games, art and craft, games, cooking, sport, free choice, reading drama, music and construction sets. Programs are set for the children to participate in and enjoy.
Afternoon tea is provided for the children each day. The afternoon tea menu is set weekly and usually consists of sandwiches with spreads and meat, seasonal fruit and vegetables, biscuits, dairy products and cereals. In winter months a selection of hot foods are provided.
Bookings are essential for children to attend ASC. A Year Round Care Enrolment Form must be completed and booking times confirmed with the Centre staff. This form is suitable for enrolment to all three children’s services offered by Council.
Children with special needs may be eligible to attend the service under the Inclusion Support program. Contact the Year Round Care Coordinator to discuss individual needs.

Cost
After school care costs $17.00 per child, per afternoon (3:00pm - 6:00pm).
