Who is a carer?
Carers are family members, partners or friends who provide support to someone who has a disability or chronic illness, suffers from mental illness or is aged and frail. Carers may help by assisting with general activities for daily living, emotional support, social support, decision-making, medical appointments and transport.

Carers often need support themselves and the New England Carer Support Service is located at the Tamworth Community Centre and provides information, education and support to carers.

Carers Week is held in October of each year and aims to raise awareness of the contributions that carers make to the lives of people within the community.
